Recipes for Hard Times
The competition
Here are the simple rules:
- Anyone can submit a recipe, but only one recipe per person.
- This must be your recipe, not something you have copied from a book or any other publication.
- Remember - the recipes must be inexpensive.
- The deadline for submitting recipes is 14 December 2008.
- On that day, our distinguished panel of judges [names to go here] will review the submissions and prepare a shortlist of 10 finalists. [Note to us: the IUF will have to first go through the recipes and bring down the number to be reviewed by the judges to a reasonable number -- we can't ask them to go through hundreds of submissions.]
- Starting on 2 January 2009, voting will begin to choose a winner from that shortlist -- and everyone can vote. The IUF will be inviting its members from around the world, including tens of thousands of chefs and other food workers, to vote. Voting ends on 31 January 2009.
- We'll announce the winner on 1 February 2009.
The prizes
So what does the winner get?
- All the shortlisted recipes will be published in an attractive recipe book which will be available [for sale?] from the IUF.
- The winning recipe will be featured on the menu of a top unionized restaurant. [Let's be more specific if we can.]
- The winner will also receive a $500.00 gift certificate to buy cookbooks (or any books, actually) from an online unionized bookshop.
